On Tuesday, December 17, the feast of Holy Great Martyr Barbara and the 50th birthday of His Eminence Nicholas, Metropolitan of Eastern America & New York, the First Hierarch’s father, Alexander N. Olhovsky, reposed in the Lord.
His Eminence learned of the repose of his father while at Holy Trinity Monastery in Jordanville, NY, as he was preparing to celebrate Divine Liturgy. By God’s grace, the First Hierarch was the first to commemorate his late father during the Proskomedia.
Memory Eternal and the Kingdom of Heaven to the servant of God Alexander, and Many Years to Metropolitan Nicholas!
On Saturday, December 21, 2024, His Eminence Metropolitan Nicholas of Eastern America and New York celebrated Divine Liturgy for the departed at St Vladimir Memorial Church to the 1000th Anniversary of the Baptism of Rus in New Jersey.
His Eminence was joined by Archpriest Serge Ledkovsky, Deputy Rector of Memorial Church, and representatives of the clergy of the Eastern American Diocese. Praying in the church were the brothers of His Eminence Vladyka Nicholas, Sergei and Pavel Olhovsky, relatives and friends, and parishioners.
At the end of the service, a memorial meal was offered in the large parish hall.
The next day, His Eminence, having celebrated Divine Liturgy in the cathedral church of Holy Trinity Monastery in Jordanville, NY, and partaking in refreshments at the monastery trapeza, performed a pannikhida and burial of the newly-departed Alexander in the nearby cemetery of the monastery.
The Kingdom of Heaven and eternal rest to the newly-departed Alexander!
