On the First Sunday of Great Lent, March 13, 2022, the Sunday of the Triumph of Orthodoxy, His Eminence KYRILL, Archbishop of San Francisco and Western America, presided over the Divine Liturgy and the “Rite of Orthodoxy” at the Diocesan Cathedral in honor of the Icon of the Mother of God “Joy of All Who Sorrow” in San Francisco.
Concelebrating with His Eminence were Their Graces THEODOSY, Bishop of Seattle and JAMES, Bishop of Sonora, Archpriest Peter, dean of the cathedral, and numerous clerics of the cathedral and the Diocese at large. After the Liturgy, a moleben was served to the Mother of God for an end to the bloodshed in the Ukrainian land. Archbishop Kirill delivered a short but succinct sermon in which he emphasized the conciliar responsibility of this evil to appearing in our lives and called on everyone to intensify their prayers at home for a speedy end to fratricidal confrontation and the restoration of peace.
