Concert of Sacred Choral Music

Preserving the tradition of pre-revolutionary Russia, on Sunday, March 8th, the Holy Virgin Cathedral Choir, under the direction of Vladimir Krassovsky, gave a Lenten Concert of Sacred Choral Music at Star of the Sea Catholic Church in San Francisco.

After the greeting, blessing of His Eminence, Arcbishop Kiril, opening remarks, the audience of over 400 people heard works by classical liturgical music composers:  Archangelsky, Bortniansky, Cesnokov, Grechaninov,  Nikolsky as well as renowned contemporary masters: Konstantinov, Ledkovsky, Raspopov and Trubachev.

One couldn’t help but notice that the Cathedral Choir is now primarily comprised of a new younger generation of enthusiastic singers who obviously worked very hard in order to prepare for this concert.

At the conclusion of the concert, the conductor was presented gifts from Archbishop Kiril and Bishop Theodosy as well as flowers from the audience.

We wish the Cathedral Choir and its director God’s blessings for further success and spiritual growth for the glory of His Holy Church.
